The following free, online tools are helpful in many ways but they can also be used to assist parents with spelling and reading instruction.

Spellchecker

Here's a spelling checker with a different twist. It allows your child to see all the misspelled words in a piece of writing at once. An option to "Suggest correctly spelled words" will display several alternatives next to each misspelled word. Misspelled words are colored red while suggestions are green.

Word Finder

Word finder is a great tool for having fun with your kids and fun with words. Use it to unscramble words, play Scrabble®, solve cross-word puzzles or invent your own word games such as "how many words rhyme with cat?"
